I decided to start another series called Character Highlights, where I’ll post an article that analyzes, discusses, and essentially highlights key passages dealing with a certain Biblical character. While I don’t profess to be a theological scholar or even a talented writer, I think it might be interesting to share my take on certain characters from the Bible, as it will perhaps spark up a new perspective within the readers!  I’ll try to lace the articles with as much humor as possible, to lighten up the mood, while ensuring to enforce the biblical backbone of scripture. If you’re a university student, similar to myself, who is out living on your own, looking after your own needs, and supporting yourself, you may find yourself in a dilemna that is not all uncommon for young adults in this part of the world – “What to EAT?” Unfortunately, although living on your own does grant some extent of parental freedom, you also lose out on the goodies – mainly, having your mom tuck you in at night and read you a bedtime story — oh — I mean, her home cooked meals!

But there’s HOPE! Your friendly neighbourhood super-blogger has a solution. Well, at least for one meal. I’m going to share a personal secret recipe, that I’ve kept secret for over 2000 years – my recipe for the greatest meal you will ever taste. This meal will have your tastebuds doing the tango for hours and hours. I will warn you – it does not immediately jump out to you as a gourmet dish, that you’d find in a high-class restaurant. But I strongly urge you to give it a chance. (more…)

Thought it would be interesting to throw up some of the brand-names or logos that have made there way into my life. Not really sure why.

cousinsSo a couple weekends back, I went back to the Miramichi (commonly referred to as the PROMISE LAND) to visit the family. Hadn’t seen most of them in about a year or so, so it was great to get back and see all of them again. It was actually for my grandparents anniversary, number 50! Man I love them. Anyways, thought I’d upload a few pictures from the weekend, which consist mainly of me and my cousins, and a couple more! (more…)

With the recent move to the new church building in Sackville, I thought I’d add a little blurb about the teen ministry that is starting up once again this fall!  It’s a great way for teens to get involved in the church, and also meet and hang out with other teens their age. The program is rapidly growing thanks to the two brains behind it all, Pastor Mark Baker and Pastor James Carr. A super great team, that has “revolutionized” the structure of the youth program at Stoneridge fellowship. (more…)

shilohyouthFor the past few months, I’ve been diggin this new youth group, Shiloh, which is based out of the Rock church in Lower Sackville. They have a great worship team and an amazing leadership staff. Pastor Mike Miller, the youth pastor at the Rock church, bring an energetic, humorous (and mildly sarcastic) tone to the night. The band, Fourth Man has a unique sound to their worship style, that illuminates the night with the presence of God. bandThe services are at 7:30pm on Wednesday nights, and I strongly suggest those of you who are in junior high, all the way up to college/university attend! It’s a great way to meet people, and an even better way to meet God.

There are a number of events that Shiloh Youth has hosted over the past few years, a highlight of which, is the Shiloh Youth Conference. Hundreds of teens come from all over the Atlantic Provinces to spend a weekend connecting with God.  Huge names come in to speak – Elijah Waters from Seattle came in this year – and many more, along with talented musicians, and other key youth leaders throughout Canada.  Shiloh has also had in some big Christian band names such as Starfield and Bluetree. Check out the Shiloh Youth Website for more information!

Another amazing element to the Shiloh youth group is the concept of “cadres”. Started by Jeanne Mayo, if I’m correct, the whole idea of cadres is to focus on personal relationships with mature Christian mentors. Each cadre has a leader who pours into the lives of the cadre members, whether it be through direct fellowship, constant communication, or steadfast prayer. If you’re looking for something like this, and live in the near proximity of Sackville, NS, I suggest you come out and give it a try!

So if you have nothing to do on Wednesday night, or if you’re interested in listening to some great local musicians, or putting up with a comedic, Abercrombie-Model-Look-a-like youth pastor, Shiloh is for you!

Oh and for you guys out there, YES, there are pretty girls.

You’ve been awake for the past 65 hours, studying for that history exam (oh wait, Arts is easy…), I mean, that biology exam, and you don’t feel like you can memorize any more protein synthesis structures — what do you do?

A) Call it a night and go to sleep.
B) Start drafting up plans to steal the exam answers
C) Pay off your family doctor to dress up like you and take the test for you
D) Pop open another Redbull
E) Put on some Kelly Clarkson on your ipod, dance around the library, and start a rave.
